Unai Emery requested Arsenal players to vote for their preferred captain, defender Rob Holding is now revealed.
Emery introduced a pool of five skippers after his appointment but saw his choices decimated from Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey’s summer departures.
Granit Xhaka has up to now worn the armband from the Premier League this word but is to convince in the character and has been jeered by his own supporters during the weekend’s win over Aston Villa, while Mesut Ozil is the only other member of this first five still in the club.
Following Ozil was substituted during their 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, holding, who captained the side, has revealed the Arsenal boss conducted a survey of the dressing room to choose who gets the armband.
“He enjoys his five captains. We all did a vote the other week so we will find out what happens and see who has named,” Holding said.
“It was just a case of writing down names and then giving them to the supervisor and he’ll undergo them obviously with his input – and we’ll see what happens.
“I have no idea [if a statement will likely soon be made], however there’s a great deal of leaders within that group who are helping out each other and shoving each other around.
“Now we’ve got these five captains the supervisor has brought in it’s spreading the leadership group rather than having one individual to order it. You’re becoming more input, it is creating a fantastic environment.”
While he was unwilling to reveal his choice of skipper, Holding described Xhaka as”a excellent leader” and praised the effect of seasoned summertime signing David Luiz.
“I like Granit in the living area. I believe he’s great. He’s really switched to people folks using the phones. He is quick to dish out the penalties,” Holding additional.
“I believe he’s a great leader and just another positive man to get in the living area.
“He’s very demanding and makes demands of us. He puts accountability on ourselves, which can be significant as a leader.”
Asked if Arsenal have more leaders than critics think, Holding said:”For sure. You can view it in practice. The way David Luiz has come and if he is speaking in front of the team he talks well.
“He talks highly people so he’s a fantastic addition to earn.”
Holding marked his return after taking the armband out of Ozil on Tuesday by just seconds from a nine-month accident lay-off, and the 24-year-old has ambitions of performing the function .
“I’d like to be a priest along with becoming leader of Arsenal is unbelievable. It’d be a terrific feeling,” he said.
“We’ll see what happens in another couple of weeks. Should I get that, then I’ll be more than happy and honoured to get it done.”
