World Rugby is currently continuing to monitor a typhoon that could threaten Sundays pool matches at the Rugby World Cup.
When four World Cup pool matches are expected to be played, typhoon Hagibis is forecast to gain in strength and struck Tokyo on Sunday with.
Among them is that the crucial match in Yokohama between Japan and Scotland, only 20 miles from the Japanese capital.
A statement published by World Rugby stated:Public and team safety is our number one priority. While weve got strong contingency plans in place for swimming pool matches, such plans, if required, will likely only be actioned if the safety of teams, fans, and labor could be guaranteed.
Those contingency plans include changing the games place – such as before game-day – to Kobes indoor stadium. The game will be played in a vacant or closed arena with fans obtaining a complete refund, if this occurred.
However, matches cannot be rescheduled if theyre called off to the day of the match. Any fixtures would be listed as scoreless draws, with every team given two things.
Earlier in the tournament, World Rugby announced its own contingency plans were in place when USA vs France in Fukuoka jeopardized. The storm lost the game and strength moved as proposed.
