Watford captain Troy Deeney considers”big boy” Javi Gracia”understands what he’s doing” and is convinced that the club will retain faith within their head coach.
Gracia has led Watford to three defeats and a draw in their first four Premier League matches of the year – but the more Pozzi family, the club owners, are understood to be keen on maintaining the Spaniard.
Deeney, 31, who’s played during his spell at Watford, is optimistic he won’t have to wave goodbye to No 12 this year.
“The manager is a big boy, he knows what he is doing – it’s simply part and parcel of the match,” the striker told Sky Sports News in an NFL launching party at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“People are going to question the manager if we’ve lost a few matches. It doesn’t only happen at Watford, it happens.
“However, the large turnover of directors in Watford was four or five years back. Everyone thinks annually the manager changes and get a brand new one. We’re trying to settle down.
“And obviously the nightclubs will always put the club first. We all appreciate that and we will continue with what we’re doing.”
In control of Watford, his first four Premier League games were won by Gracia at the start of last season.
“Naturally, you are going to have people placing pressure on us,” Deeney additional.
“We have not been great but we aren’t attempting to hide from that. We have never done anything, especially Once You consider – that’s what everyone going to perform
“We know what it is about and we have to man up, stand up in front of it and choose the good with the evil.”
Deeney, who underwent knee surgery after playing through injury of this season for the first two matches, does not have any date for his return but there has been a positive update on his rehabilitation.
“It’s steady and slow. ‘d my stitches out now,” he said.
“I do not know when I will be back. I have got phases. I keeping going back to the surgeon and he says,’You can do so, and you may do this’, or’It’s swelling’. Each time he lays it off I go with what he says.
“But, as of now, I have just passed level one of having out my stitches and I’ll see how my knee enhancements for the next few months”
