(CNN) — Tiger Woods has revealed he underwent knee surgery last week and says that he hopes to return to golfing in October.
The Masters winner declared he had surgery to fix minor cartilage damage in his left knee.
The 43-year-old said he’ll return in Japan — at the brand new event — the Zozo Championship of the PGA Tour in 24-27 October.
“I am walking now and hope to resume practice in the upcoming few weeks,” that the 15-time big winner mentioned on Twitter. “I look forward to playing and traveling Japan in October.”
Woods has had a number of procedures on his knee over the course of his career, and in the past few years has experienced four back operations including spinal fusion surgery in 2017.
His surgeon Dr. Vern Cooley said he expected Woods to make a”full recovery.”
“We did what was required, and also examined the whole knee. There were no additional difficulties,” added Dr. Cooley, who was also a part of the team that carried out his reconstructive ACL surgery on his knee following his 2008 US Open victory.

Woods ended an 11-year wait for his leading in April if he won the Masters but since he has missed the cut in the Open and the PGA Championship.
He complained of stiffness and soreness in his back and pulled from the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this year with a neck strain.
“I am just not moving well,” he told reporters at Royal Portrush. “It is just the way it is. It is just a few procedures and dad time I’ve had more than time. It’s only the way it’s going to be.”
Woods also withdrew from this month’s Northern Trust at New Jersey mentioning a side strain but returned for the BMW Championship.
He failed to make up for a week’s season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake, where he clinched his first victory last September.
