Steven Gerrard admitted he was”amazed and flattered” to hear Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hammering him as his successor.
Klopp, who had been named FIFA men’s trainer stated he thinks Rangers boss Gerrard is the man who needs to succeed him when his time at Anfield comes to an end.
“If Liverpool were to sack me then perhaps Kenny [Dalglish] would be the first option to replace me, but they would probably bring Stevie from Glasgow,” Klopp told Four Two. “Should you ask who must follow with me, I’d say Stevie. I assist him whenever I can.”
He hopes and expects that the German will probably be at Anfield for years to come, Even though Gerrard, who skippered the side to the Champions League in 2005 and left 710 looks, was grateful for the comments of Klopp.
“I was amazed and flattered at the exact same period,” Gerrard said when asked concerning Klopp’s comments. “However, when you read this quote very carefully, just like I’ve got, it said,’if I get sacked tomorrow’ he believes Steven Gerrard should be the next Liverpool manager.
“Jurgen Klopp is not getting sacked tomorrow. I really don’t want him to get tomorrow. He’s doing a great job.
“I am a Liverpool fan. I’m certain every Liverpool fan on the planet endorses what I am saying here. We need him to remain for many, many decades and bring to our club as you can up to success.
“But it was very flattering at the identical moment.”
After signing a contract, directing Rangers to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last 28, gerrard took over at Ibrox.
Rangers reserved their spot in the Betfred Cup.
