Swinger’s 2019 College Football Record: 0-1 (-1.10 Components )
The Stanford Cardinal may spend the week of this season at the house of the Pac-12 rivals. Even the Cardinal notched a 17-7 victory over Northwestern in their season opener but they did not escape unscathed as Stanford quarterback K.J. Costello chose a forearm to the chin soon before the half inducing him to leave the game, whilst blindside tackle Walker”Not So” Small lasted a dislocated knee and will be out for the foreseeable future. Left guard Dylan Powell is not predicted to move after he had been hurt in Week 1. This leaves a lineup, potentially without their starting QB, which can be a major blow to some Cardinal team early in this season.
USC won their season opener by the score of 31-23 on Fresno State but that wasn’t quite enough to cover the 13 1/2 point impost who endorsed the Trojans. It may have also been a victory as USC quarterback JT Daniels was lost for the year after suffering a torn ACL. That will necessitate a change in signal-callers with genuine freshman Kedon Slovis slated to take the reins following heading 6-of-8 for 57 yards departure after taking over for Daniels last week.
The last time these teams met the Cardinal seized a victory as 1/2 point home favorites in September of 2018. However USC had won the time to the two contests and have the luxury of advantage. However, the wildcards would be the quarterbacks with lots of rolling the dice on Stanford, presuming that Costello will be right back in the saddle for this particular conference clash.
However, I am siding with the Trojans predicated on the simple fact they are better equipped to put things on the board because of an offensive line that’s intact, unlike Stanford’s in which two starting linemen on the left side of the ball is going to likely be sidelined. We are also getting value here as the college soccer odds opened with all the Trojans -3 to where they sit a one-point home favorite.
I am not anticipating any heroics from either side with both coaches looking to grind out this one using their individual rushing attacks. The Trojans will continue to pound on the ball and reports on the USC freshman quarterback indicate that the kid can handle the strain and will be strong in relief of the injured starter JT Daniels. Back the Trojans and cash a ticket on Saturday!
