Suzann Pettersen’s winning putt in the Solheim Cup sparked celebrations around Gleneagles since Europe regained the trophy for the first time.
An epic contest dramatic Sunday in Perthshire and boiled down, together with Pettersen lining a six-foot birdie chance with the scores level in 131/2- 131/2 and the within her pivotal clash against Marina Alex.
The rookie narrowly missed her opportunity, leaving Pettersen needing to stop the trophy being retained by Team USA with an draw.
In scenes which spanned Martin Kaymer’s pressure-packed putt from the”Miracle in Medinah” seven decades past, the European players, backroom staff and fans wrapped in delight when Pettersen’s ball disappeared into the cup.
Stress and the drama was also evident back in the 17th green, even before turning her attentions to the large screen to observe out Pettersen hole up ahead, where Bronte Law had completed a win Ally McDonald.
