Dermot Weld has verified that his Irish St Leger winner Search For A Song will not run again this year.
The filly lasted at the Curragh on a steep upward curve, beating last year’s Doncaster St Leger winner Kew Gardens under a ride from Chris Hayes on Sunday.
Having finished fourth at the Oaks behind Star Catcher, she subsequently won the Galtres Stakes – and Weld is enthusiastic about what next year can bring.
He said:”Search For a Song came from her race well, but is finished for the year.
“She’s done us proud, and we look forward to a significant campaign next year.”
Weld was using Tarnawa, who obtained the Blandford Stakes, and she has alternatives for the season’s conclusion.
He said:”Tarnawa came from her race both well and has three options, the Fillies & Mares Race at Ascot at October, the EP Taylor at Canada and the Prix de l’Opera on Arc day.
“We’ll determine which one closer the moment. The two fillies did us proud”
