Among the Latest rivalries of the NFL is in the spotlight on Sunday If the Los Angeles Rams host the New Orleans Saints live on Sky Sports Action and Main Event.
Here is what to expect…
On this week’s Inside The Huddle podcast, NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche shared that Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan said to him:”All smoke we have for our opponents Atlanta – that is about the Rams.”
Among the latest rivalries of the NFL stems out of two thrilling experiences last season – and the discussion around them. Following New Orleans came out on top of a 45-35 Saints head coach Sean Payton singled out Rams cornerback Marcus Peters as somebody they looked to harness.
Those comments did not sit well with Peters, who said after the match:”Inform Sean Payton keep speaking that s***, we’re going to see him soon. You believe me?
“I enjoyed what he was saying on the sidelines also. So I’ll tell [him]’Keep speaking that so *** and I hope you visit me soon. You feel me’
“And we’re going to have a nice small bowl of gumbo together”
Despite the two playing it down from the build-up to an NFC rematch in New Orleans, the Rams winning in controversial fashion – a blown no-call onto a pass interference preventing the Saints from obtaining a late first down which could have won them the match – Wyche has stated the”bad blood” is most definitely still there.
Can Blackmon pointed out that:”The [Saints] took the conquer way too personal, though. The country sued!” Indeed, there has been a suit filed over the no-call against the NFL, however, was subsequently dismissed before this entire year.
Last Monday night, the Saints (1-0) opened their season with a 30-28 thriller – and early game of the year candidate – since they toppled the Texans using a last-second Wil Lutz field objective.
Drew Brees orchestrated a surgical six-play drive with 37 seconds left to receive his team into field goal range in classic fashion.
Los Angeles (1-0) travelled to Carolina and held off the Panthers 30-27. Todd Gurley had a quarter and managed 101 yards on 15 touches, despite Malcolm Brown vulturing two touchdowns.
Jared Goff did not possess his best afternoon (23/39, 186 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 choice ) but he tossed a fourth-quarter score and the defense stepped up when it mattered most.
It’s a joy to watch these thoughts coach-quarterback duos in actions, and about the 2 situations, Vince Young and Blackmon expressed their ideas around ITH.
Young explained:”I watch Drew Brees winning MVP this season. I still find the man out there slinging that chunk directing his group out to battle each year and communication around, still in good shape.
“You notice that in a great deal of quarterbacks but there is something really unique about Brees to me personally and that I have a great deal of admiration for him.
“I’m just pleased to see he’s still moving as him Sean Payton’s chemistry is doing well – getting touchdowns and receiving the guys a great deal of wins.”
Meanwhile, Blackmon recognized the Rams’ attack, saying:”I believe Jared Goff and Sean McVay’s connection is phenomenal. It’s possible to see the instant growth from if McVay took the job there. The group became improved.
“I had the pleasure of playing in Washington when McVay had been the offensive coordinator and he had the identical connection with Kirk Cousins.
“We were seeing McVay about the play-call – plus he is on the headset talking to Kirk all the way down before the last second with what’s happening and what to perform.
“Eventually it took a while for Kirk to take ownership – since the one criticism for him was: once the play broke down, everything to do today?
“Kirk eventually began making that modification by himself, and also the exact identical thing with Goff eventually starting doing this on his own as well.”
We could expect you to be a shootout, so which participant from either defense can step up and become a difference-maker? Rams linebacker Cory Littleton’needed a day’ last weekend, racking up also a fourth-quarter interception, two passes defended, a fumble, along with 14 tackles. Can he do it?
In addition, in the NFC Championship match, Gurley had four rushing attempts for 10 yards. His capacity to rip through guards – and – maintain Brees off the area could be key. On the other side, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas can’t be permitted to run riot.
