A row has ignited on media involving Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer along with the England striker.

The pair traded tweets as the story broke on Tuesday – but what’s the backdrop of their feud?
In Reboot – My Life, My Time, which has been serialised in the Daily Mirror, Owen also goes into detail about his relationship with Newcastle’s fans during an injury-hit spell with the team, which ended with him linking Manchester United after the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship in 2009.
“I ought to have followed my gut instincts, I didn’t wish to move there – my heart was set to a return to Liverpool,” said Owen – who’d left Anfield for Real in 2004 – of his go to St James’ Park.
The 39-year-old former England captain claimed Newcastle were”only a huge club in the feeling that it has plenty of fans and a large arena”. Ouch.
Match of the Day pundit Shearer, the Magpies’ album goalscorer, reacted on media.
Tweeting a clip of Owen telling BT Sport in 2018 that he”could not wait to retire to the final six or seven years” of his livelihood, Shearer submitted:”Yes, Michael, we thought that also, whilst on 120K per week”
Enter Owen again, questioning Shearer’s loyalty to Newcastle…
This retort certainly got people talking, but where did this blood begin?
Newcastle’s relegation in 2009 appears to function as the catalyst for the strained relationship of the pair, based on Owen’s book.
Shearer was supervisor at the time and, going into the final day of this year, the Magpies needed a draw at Aston Villa or their 16-season spell in the Premier League would return to a finish.
Owen asserts he wasn’t fully fit but, together with Villa 1-0 up during Damien Duff purpose, the striker came on as a replacement in the 66th minute.
Newcastle couldn’t find a reply and were condemned into the Championship, also Owen alleges Shearer was”seething” with him and insinuated that the participant”had an eye on my contract”, together with his current deal about to run out.

He then proceeds to explain he had been a part of a comprehensive interview using BT Sport in 2018 where he had touched upon his adventures with trauma in his profession and had been taken aback by how Shearer had”started sniping about it upon Twitter”.
Owen asserts he had a text conversation using Shearer after this tweet at which he provided a justification after Shearer had said Newcastle fans will be”unimpressed to hear that he did not enjoy playing there”.
“It moved , as I suspected, just nowhere,” he added.
Gary Lineker, who hosts Match of the Day together with Shearer as well as working on BT Sport, afterwards acted as peacemaker since the spat continuing.
“There appears to be a bit of history ? I like you so do not want to choose sides,” he tweeted.
