Nicky Maynard claimed a first-half destroyed nine-man Oldham 6-1 in Saturdays Sky Bet League Two clash.
Maynard had netted twice when Latics had two men sent off at a stunning minute – and the Stags then turned the screw.
When Maynard headed home a great Kellan Gordon crossover from five yards 20, the early dominance of mansfield had been rewarded.
He also made it 2-0 three minutes later, this time tapping home after Otis Khan had obtained to the by-line that was abandoned and drilled the ball throughout the face of goal.
However, after 37 minutes, Oldham lost their heads as the already-booked Filipe Morais went Neal Bishop, whose move reached Mal Benning, that was in turn in late. Morais was shown a second yellow card and also Egert earned a straight red.
Nevertheless, a mistake by goalkeeper Conrad Logan gifted a goal after 43 minutes to the nine guys.
Tom Hamer tucked the loose ball away to reduce the shortage but – moments later – Maynard raced off on a Conor Shaughnessy through-ball in stoppage time and round the goalkeeper to complete his own hat-trick onto the breath of half-time.
After 56 minutes, a soft cross from Benning somehow eluded keeper and defence and rolled into the web away Oldham defender David Wheater because Mansfield extended their edge before a house breakaway saw Maynard setup Dapo Afolayan to roster a fifth.
Oldhams misery continued as substitute Dylan Fage was carried away on a stretcher after Hamer had brought down Afolayan using six minutes remaining before teenage substitute Jimmy Knowles ripped his first league goal using a punishment that was cool.
