Joseph Parker’s director”agrees” with Derek Chisora’s press conference rant, but states the New Zealander does not have any”ego issues” in advance of the heavyweight battle.
Chisora needed to know why his fight Parker was not the principal event, starting into an expletive-laden tirade at the very first press conference for a bumper O2 invoice, which is composed by Regis Prograis against Josh Taylor on October 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Prograis faces Scotland’s Taylor in the World Boxing Super Series final but Higgins believes Parker’s crucial conflict with Chisora will also capture the attention of struggle fans.
“Yeah I agree,” Higgins told Sky Sports. “Parker-Chisora or even Chisora-Parker since the Brits like to call it’s a bigger attraction , in terms of tickets sold at The O2 and seeing figures. It is dependent upon how you are making the decision.
“Technically it [Prograis vs Taylor] is more elite in terms of names, but concerning fan favourites and exciting boxing games, Parker-Chisora is your bigger occasion, therefore I concur with Chisora.
“That being said, our side do not care as much. Joseph has never been one to get ego issues, or fret about things like that. He knows what the task is and it’ll be to shake Chisora from the face, and shut him up”
Chisora has parted company with coach David Coldwell, who guided the 35-year-old into an knockout win over Artur Szpilka in his last struggle.
The Rotherham-based coach affirmed he could not split his time between his additional fighters and travelling to London for the trainings of Chisora.
Higgins said:”It’s a sign of problems in the camp and near the struggle. To lose his coach this far out, and a coach that seemed to be a good team, you’ve got to ask why?
“Our staff is unified, on the house track with no issues.”
