Johanna Konta won’t play with any tournaments in Asia this fall and so will not be able to meet the requirements for the WTA Championships.
The British number one has withdrawn from the China Open in Beijing because of”slight knee pain” and didn’t enter the next week’s lucrative championship in Wuhan in China.
She’s subsequently expected to perform in Moscow.
Konta, 28, is 11th in the WTA singles race.
The top eight players qualify for the WTA Championships at Shenzhen in China, but the 11 – and a wildcard – are all qualified to compete at the Elite Trophy.
Konta is likely to qualify for this event, which is staged at the end of October at the city of Zhuhai.
