The venerable Resorts was the seaside casino.
After then-New Jersey Gov. Brendan Byrne cut the grand opening ribbon in Resorts in May 1978, thus started a set of casino/resort openings, closings, re-openings, refurbishments up and down the Boardwalk.
Decades after, Resorts is still going strong in the core of Atlantic City, final November 2018, and they welcomed their new amenity, the DraftKings Sportsbook.
DraftKings was concentrated on daily fantasy sports. But combined with FanDuel, its cohort along with challenger, it’s a relative newcomer to the lawful sports gambling game. DraftKings has held its own.
Plus they make a solid showing in the retail front in concert.
I’ve been reviewing every NJ sportsbook ahead of the NFL regular season, and I am looking intently in DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts in Atlantic City today.
Address: 1133 Boardwalk, Atlantic City
Resorts is in the heart of Atlantic City’s”Boardwalk Strip.”
The DraftKings location is easy to discover in the boardwalk entrance. Resorts offers amenities such as Margaritaville pub, a spa, and numerous club and dining choices in addition to all the casino action.
Like Atlantic City casinos, even if you aren’t a devotion cardholder or a hotel guest, you’re going to be hit with a charge for. Not perfect, but it is the price of”doing business” in AC.
It ‘s feet and has a capacity of almost 400, Though the DraftKings distance feels little. The interior d??cor and colour scheme are decorated in”DK colours” of green and black. The branding is subtle but on stage with neon”kings crowns” located across the area.
Other than the extravagant d??cor, the most spectacular element of the DraftKings space are the copious quantities of kiosks adjacent to the sport bar and located at the entrance.
All told, there are 18 self-serve terminals in the area, rivaling only FanDuel at the Meadowlands (wait, are such daily-fantasy-turned-sportsbook operators onto something?) For kiosks at NJ’s number sportsbooks.
The self-serve kiosks offset. It is a little space with capacity for up to five tellers.
While the reported dimensions (5,000 square feet) and capability (396) is large, the novel feels much smaller and cozier. With low ceilings and smaller format movie screens, it will have a comparable”Fan Cave” feel like, say, the Golden Nugget publication.
Againnot a terrible thing, even as DK has done an outstanding job frees the distance that they need to utilize.
The Resorts sportsbook includes a shape from live teller place: one and its sportsbook viewing place with 2 offshoots. The main viewing area contains four main large screens that are not”giant” by any means but match the space allotted.
Underneath the four video screens are 10 screens for game action. There is a ticker display scrolling the most recent scores and updates and an digital chances and information wall .
DraftKings'”fire marshal” capability of 396 belies the reality that there’s somewhat limited seating in the main sportsbook area. You will find 40 theater chairs anchoring the primary viewing area with 15 more seats situated behind on a tabletop rail. As a service partition will obscure a few of the displays for the ones that are currently sitting behind it, Regrettably, there’s a small design defect in this area.
The bar area has seats. That is a total of 70 seats, not counting.
You will find five live betting windows adjacent to the primary bar.
While my visit wasn’t in a”summit” time, an individual could envision some audience issues at busier times, together with people wedged into the corner of the space.
RATING: 3.5 stars
DraftKings knocks it. What is even better is that the self-serve machines are open and available 24 hours every day. Properly performed, DK.
RATING: 5 stars
The dwell teller minimum is consistent with additional non-William Hill NJ sportsbook locations, 5. This greater”live-teller” minimum is offset by the user-friendly kiosksthat are at a reduced $1 minimum.
RATING: 4 stars
One is not overwhelmed with screens in the Resorts publication. The TV displays are serviceable, with no”wow” impact.
There are four big displays in more in the VIP area and the main area. All the other screens in the main viewing area and to the pub are a format.
Not the best situation for seeing NFL Sunday in actions.
RATING: 3 stars
The”non-VIP” seating capacity is roughly 70. Yes, the 40 theatre-style chairs in the viewing area are outstanding; I only wish there were .
The 15-seat rear rail does include power outlets (a nice touch). The VIP regions are recorded to transport up to 12 people (12 are the absolute best ) and features plush leather sofas and low tables. It seems”VIP-ish,” since the four regions will be consecutively adjoined (not personal ) with one large screen that can be set to whichever game you need to see.
RATING: 3.5 stars
The daily chairs accessibility is”first-come, first-serve,” with all the VIP areas available to be reserved ahead of time.
RATING: 4 stars
As with other AC sportsbook places, the casino was built before the opening of this sportsbook. While a few other books have restricted to no food choices (i.e., render the book to locate the food court), DraftKings Sportsbook introduces some solid options if you opt to not ever leave your chair or even the sportsbook itself.
Besides the large bar in the book, you can find drinks available via table service and”Happy Hour” discounted drink pricing on Sunday-Thursday out of 2-7 p.m.
The menu is brief, but solid featuring some standard sports pub food such as chicken wings, hot dogs and burgers but also a few exceptional offerings.
RATING: 4.5 stars
Within my visit that is off-peak, there were four DraftKings staff on-site and all were customer focused to answer questions, describe stakes, or teach how to use the kiosks that are self-betting.
DK has nailed the gambling lines paper screen. A wall is opposite the primary bar that shows an assortment of potential displays and lines. Displays is a seemingly endless row of newspaper sheets. Nicely performed, DK!
RATING: 5 stars
Resorts Casino is at the heart of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This location has been represented at the self-parking prices of 20. Yecch!
RATING: 2 stars
As emphasized before, Resorts has a large number of alternatives beneath its roof as well for whatever”non-sports gambling” frame in your mind which you may chance to be in, there is something for everybody.
As mentioned, the place in the center of the Boardwalk makes it simple for you to travel up or down the boardwalk to find entertainment choices.
RATING: 4.5 stars
As part of each sportsbook visit, I’m placing a football-related wager for the year old.
Using its 18 kiosks it was only fair that I made this bet. Along with the bet minimums of $1, the DraftKings kiosks are packed with futures and props which you don’t find on screen at the book.
After looking at a few NFL potential bets around”NFL team to win the fewest games” and”NFL defensive rookie of the year,” I took a shot “Last NFL team to be undefeated at the 2019-20 season”
Great luck and go get’em, New Orleans Saints:
The Resorts sportsbook offers some amenities that are not available at other Atlantic City sportsbooks. DraftKings scores strong marks in the regions of ordering, reserved seats, along with an extraordinary number of accessible self-serve kiosks.
The knocks on DraftKings at Resorts, however, stem from its allotted space. The TV displays are on the smaller side in relation to novels and the seating capacity is on the side.
They must do the best with the space available, although one assumes that DraftKings would do things differently, if given a free rein to design a space from scratch.
So the positives do outweigh the downsides. Combined with a favorable customer-service approach and dedication, it will place the DraftKings Sportsbook in Resorts on the”must-consider” list for a trip during the upcoming school and NFL seasons.
