The Resorts has been the seaside casino.
After then-New Jersey Gov. Brendan Byrne cut the grand opening ribbon in Resorts in May 1978, therefore began a set of casino/resort openings, closings, re-openings, refurbishments up and down the Boardwalk.
Resorts remains strong in the center of Atlantic City, last November 2018, and they welcomed their newest amenity, the DraftKings Sportsbook.
DraftKings was focused on daily fantasy sport. But combined with its own cohort along with challenger, FanDuel, it is a relative newcomer into the sports betting game. Despite the newness, DraftKings has more than held its own over the mobile front versus names like Caesars William Hill, and MGM.
And they make a solid showing on the retail front in concert with Resorts.
I’ve been reviewing every NJ sportsbook in advance of the NFL season, also I am looking closely in DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts in Atlantic City, now.
Address: 1133 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401
Resorts is at the heart of Atlantic City’s”Boardwalk Strip.”
The brand new DraftKings location is not difficult to find inside the boardwalk entrance. Resorts offers amenities including Margaritaville pub, a spa, and club and dining options in addition to all the casino action.
Like Atlantic City casinos, if you aren’t a hotel guest or even a devotion cardholder, you’ll be hit by a $20 fee for. Not perfect, but it is the cost of”doing business” in AC.
It ‘s 5,000 square feet and includes a capacity of nearly 400, Though the DraftKings space feels little. The inside d??cor and color scheme are decorated in”DK colours” of black and green. The branding is subtle but on stage with fuzzy”kings crowns” located across the area.
Other than the extravagant d??cor would be the copious quantities of kiosks found in the entry and adjacent to the sport bar.
All told, you can find 18 self-serve terminals in the area, rivaling only FanDuel in the Meadowlands (wait, are such daily-fantasy-turned-sportsbook operators on something?) For kiosks at NJ’s amount sportsbooks.
The kiosks offset the live teller space, which can be tucked into a corner. It’s a smallish space with capacity for up to five tellers.
While the documented size (5,000 square feet) and capability (396) is big, the novel feels considerably smaller and cozier. With low ceilings and bigger format movie displays, it does have a similar”Fan Cave” feel like, say, the Golden Nugget publication.
Again, not a bad thing DK has done an outstanding job.
The Resorts sportsbook has a rectangular shape at 1 its own sportsbook viewing region with 2 offshoots and teller place, the other in the rear of the novel that holds four VIP places. The main viewing area contains four primary big screens that aren’t”giant” by any means but match the space allocated.
Underneath the four video screens are 10 displays for sport action. A large-format ceiling-hung ticker display is scrolling the scores and updates and an eye-catching digital odds and data wall .
DraftKings'”fire marshal” capability of 396 belies the fact that there’s somewhat limited seating in the main sportsbook area. There are 40 theater seats anchoring the viewing area. Unfortunately, there’s a small design defect in this area for a service partition will obscure a few of the screens for those that are currently still sitting behind it.
In addition, the bar area has about 15 additional seats. That is a total of 70 chairs, not counting the space from the four VIP regions that could seat up to 48 more.
You will find five live betting windows adjacent to the bar.
While my visit wasn’t in a”summit” time, one could envision some crowd issues at occasions, together with all people wedged into the corner of this space.
RATING: 3.5 stars
DraftKings knocks it out of the park using 18 kiosks during their distance. What is even better is that the majority of machines are open and accessible 24 hours every day. Properly performed, DK.
RATING: 5 stars
The teller minimum is sportsbook places that are consistent with Hill NJ, 5. This greater”live-teller” minimum is offset from the user-friendly kiosksthat have a low $1 minimum.
RATING: 4 stars
One isn’t overwhelmed with displays in the Resorts publication. The TV screens are serviceable, without a”wow” impact.
There are four displays in the viewing area and four more in the VIP area. All the other screens in the main viewing area and to the pub are a format that is more compact.
Not the ideal situation for seeing NFL Sunday in action.
RATING: 3 stars
Even the”non-VIP” seating capacity is approximately 70. Yes, the 40 theatre-style chairs in the main viewing area are excellent; I only wish there were .
The 15-seat rear rail does include power outlets (a great touch). The VIP places are listed to hold up to 12 individuals (12 would be the absolute best ) and features plush leather sofas and low tables. It feels”VIP-ish,” as the four regions have been consecutively adjoined (not personal ) with one big screen that may be set to whatever game you want to watch.
RATING: 3.5 stars
The daily seating access is”first-come, first-serve,” with the VIP areas available to be booked ahead of time.
RATING: 4 stars
As with other AC sportsbook locations, the casino was constructed well before the opening of their sportsbook. While some other books have limited to no food options (i.e., leave the novel to locate the food court), DraftKings Sportsbook introduces some strong choices if you opt to never leave your seat or the sportsbook itself.
Besides the huge bar in the publication, you can find beverages available via table support and”Happy Hour” discounted drink pricing on Sunday-Thursday from 2-7 p.m.
The menu is brief, but strong featuring some sports bar food including chicken wings, hot dogs and hamburgers but also a few exceptional offerings including chicken parm, quesadillas, and sushi rolls.
RATING: 4.5 stars
Within my off-peak trip, you will find four DraftKings personnel and all were describe bets, customer focused to answer questions, or instruct how to use the kiosks.
DK has also pinpointed the betting lines paper display. A wall is opposite the bar that displays an assortment of displays and lines. Beneath these screens is a row of newspaper sheets. Nicely done, DK!
RATING: 5 stars
Resorts Casino is at the heart of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This location is represented at the pricing of $20. Yecch!
RATING: 2 stars
As highlighted before, Resorts has a large number of options under its roof as well for whatever”non-sports betting” frame in your mind which you may chance to be in, there’s something for everyone.
As stated, the location in the heart of the Boardwalk makes it easy for you to journey down or up the boardwalk to find more entertainment options.
RATING: 4.5 stars
As a part of each sportsbook visit, I’m placing a wager for the forthcoming 2019 season.
Using its 18 kiosks adorned across the area, it was only reasonable that I made this wager. With props and futures, the DraftKings kiosks are filled Besides the lower bet minimums of $ 1 you don’t find on screen at the book.
After looking at a few NFL potential bets around”NFL team to acquire the maximum matches” and”NFL defensive rookie of the year,” I took a shot at”Last Friday NFL team to be undefeated in the 2019-20 season”
Great luck and go get’em, New Orleans Saints:
The Resorts sportsbook offers some amenities which aren’t available at other Atlantic City sportsbooks. DraftKings scores solid marks in the regions of millions of kiosks, in-seat food-and-drink ordering, and seats.
The rips on DraftKings at Resorts stem from the allotted space. The TV displays are on the side in relation to publications and the seating capacity is about the side.
One supposes that DraftKings will do things differently, When given a free rein to look a space from scratch, but they must do the best with the space available.
So the downsides are outweighed by the advantages. Combined with a favorable customer-service approach and commitment, it does put the DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts on the”must-consider” set for a trip during the upcoming college and NFL seasons.
