Danny Cowley states Huddersfield represents the”perfect opportunity” for his second step in management and insists that the”easy” option could have been to remain in Lincoln.
Even the 40-year-old signed an deal alongside his brother and boss Nicky in the John Smith’s Arena to replace head coach Jan Siewert in the Championship club Monday.
Cowley led Lincoln into two promotions at the last few decades and will bid to arrest Huddersfield form, together with all the Terriers second from bottom in the league.
“You look at the present status in the Championship and respect that it has been a really tough time for the football club but actually excites me as we enjoy a battle,” said Cowley.
“We always believed the next move would have to be the perfect chance and we view this really is the ideal opportunity. We believe we can add value here.
“The chance to be the managers instead of head trainer is essential to us since that’s how we have always functioned. It’s always about creating.”
Huddersfield, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have not won in 17 games in all competitions and were beaten by Lincoln in Carabao Cup last month.
The opportunity to talk to Huddersfield turned down about the managerial vacancy but took the job because of the assurance that the brothers could have a part in shaping the development of the club.
“I look at the task in front of us and can not wait to start,” Cowley added.
“We want to be challenged. I need to live life. The option will have been to remain a club felt a relationship with and loved, at Lincoln.
“It’d have been a great deal easier to stay but we aren’t interested in easy choices. We wish to examine ourselves.”
Cowley will begin his Huddersfield tenure against Sheffield Wednesday, who’ll have Gary Monk from the dugout for the first time – live on Sky Sports.
“The short term objectives are to find a way to play winning football but also for us it’s got to become a long-term undertaking,” Cowley said.
“Winning on Saturday is not sufficient for me. It is all about winning on winning. We are clear about the vision to Huddersfield Town. We know where we would like to go.”
Cowley added that he and his brother very much come as a set, with worked together at Braintree and Concord earlier Lincoln.
“We are utilised to operating together,” he said. “We have lived our lives in each others’ pockets. We are distinct personalities but are self explanatory about the processes. Above all we have hope.”
