Two goals thwarted a Carlisle fightback to win and proceed top of Sky Bet League Two. .
The visitors looked comfy after Daniel Powell and Nicky Hunt fired them.
But, Carlisle battled back to draw level in a thrilling second half, when Hallam Hope along with Christie Elliott were on goal, just for Alex to have the last state with a Gethin Jones very own goal and Chris Porters strike.
Crewe pressure was rewarded with a goal after Tom Lowerys free-kick from wide to the right.
Byron Webster was not able to handle an awkward bounce and Hunt pounced to maneuver the ball home from six yards.

Carlisle needed something positive to boost their souls and it came in the 59th minute, when replacement Stefan Scougalls run gave the chance to send at a cross that Hope managed to slide home from close variety to Jack Iredale.
Iredale was again the supplier if Carlisle equalised five minutes later. His cross found its way to Elliott, who volleyed in six yards ago Dave Richards.
When James Jones made a fast effect from the bench, whipping that Porter forced home for his sixth attack of the year, alex recovered the lead at the 78th minute.
When a cross from Perry Ng looped into the web via deflection, a contest that was fluctuating settled at the 85th minute.
