Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation after getting a report of fraud involving Bury, following the expulsion from the EFL of the club.
Following C&N Sporting Risk pulled out of a proposed takeover the club lost his League One status a week.
In a short statement, the Greater Manchester force stated:”On 18 June 2019, authorities received a report of fraud involving Bury Football Club. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
Sky Sports News knows this investigation is not in connection to the present whoever owns Steve Dale.
This report was made 1 month before Dale reached a company voluntary agreement with the creditors of all the club to reimburse 25 per cent of the 9m they were owed.
But that deal depended on the team being allowed to perform with this season, something the English Soccer League, worried about Dale’s capacity to fund the costs of the team along with those debts, refused to sanction.
This resulted in Dale missing a few deadlines to prove he could fulfill his duties sell the team. The EFL ran out of inspiration Tuesday and hauled in the league.
No arrests have been made so far.
