MLB Database (2003-2008 Seasons)
We collected betting data for every major U.S. game since the 2003. We collect the opening and closing lines (and”line movement,” for a variety of sportsbooks) and closing scores — and possibly most importantly, our proprietary”gambling percentages.”
Our database for MLB currently includes games over the past six seasons. For the purposes of this guide, we include the playoffs, but exclude spring training. Similar to baseball, baseball is a”moneyline” sport, so that we emphasize”units won” (rather than winning percentage).
MLB – Betting Against the Public Much like last year, we now present results for”Betting Against the Public” at various thresholds of betting percentage AND for home teams and visiting groups.
Table 1: MLB and Betting Against the Public (2003-2008 Seasons)
Bet% House Visitor Total
50 +103 -54 +49 units
40 +91 -30 +61
30 +64 +13 +77
25 +67 -46 +21
20 +20 -4 +16
15 +28 -5 +23
Using the Table
* Along with overall”Bet Against” outcomes, we’ve broken out how Betting Against the Public operates if a team is a House group or a Visitor.
* For instance, if a House group has less than 30% of the public gambling on them (Visitor has over 70 percent of the public), this scenario led to +64 units!
* On the other hand, visitors with significantly less than 30 percent of the bets (greater than 70% of bets on Home team), led to +13 units.
It’s important to be aware that the Betting Percentage data comes out of our propriety betting percentage data from seven sportsbooks that are online. We provide the most complete image of the sports. Using gambling percentage data from a fantasy or only 1 or 2 sportsbooks bet websites will certain produce results.
