A Barnsley supporter expired while watching Wednesday nights Championship game against Derby in Oakwell, the team and authorities have declared.
66, jeffrey Wroe, suffered a cardiac arrest and never being treated by the emergency services, he couldnt be revived.
A club statement read:Barnsley Football Club are profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of a supporter in Wednesday nights fixture from Derby County.
Sixty-six-year-old Jeffrey Wroe was treated by emergency services in Oakwell near the conclusion of the match, however devastatingly, was unable to be revived.
The club has been liaising with and can definitely continue to support the family members and friends of Mr Wroe through this exceptionally tough time, whilst requesting their privacy to be honored.
Derby added on Twitter:Derby County Football Club is profoundly saddened to learn of this information and offers its condolences to the family members and friends of Jeffrey Wroe.
South Yorkshire Police said in a statement:Officers were stabbed 9.24pm into some person in cardiac arrest in the Barnsley vs Derby match at Oakwell.
Despite the very best efforts of the emergency services that the man died.
Barnsley play with away their next match at Preston, and drew the game 2-2.
