Australia vs Georgia
World Cup
Friday 11th October
Australia completed their Rugby World Cup Pool D program with an unimpressive 27-8??victory over Georgia on Friday, grinding out the triumph in rain-sodden states in Shizuoka.
Nic White notched the only first-half try using out-half Matt Toomua beyond a strong Georgia effort, for the Wallabies.
Marika Koroibete saw a sensational effort on the hour to provide Australia breathing space, but Georgia responded into the final 10 minutes as Alexander Todua sprinted up the wing after a Lasha Khmaladze break.
Australia back-row Jack Dempsey rubber-stamped the victory along with five minutes remaining, however, when he scored the back of a hard drive drive off and May Genia additional undue gloss to the scoreline when he dived over in the last minute.
Australia will face England in the quarter-finals at Oita on Saturday, October 19 – with England with come off the rear of a 14-day rest with France due to the unprecedented blackout of the Pool B clash on Saturday.
