CLASSIC CHARM (best price 10-3) has built up a wonderful affinity with the current C&D along with her seemingly in her part under testing requirements, everything looks set fair for a second significant effort from Dean Ivory’s in-form filly.
A match champion of an aggressive handicap when breaking her snowball in the thirteenth effort, the girl of Rip Van Winkle didn’t have to wait too long to improve her tally because she ran an even more persuasive scorer on her return trip last time out. Jumping into the direct three out off the back of strong fractions, the three-year-old kept her foot on the pedal all the way to the lineup to score by a long-looking seven spans and it came as no real surprise to find she’d posted the fastest pace figure onto the seven-race card along with that including following Group race protagonist, Miss O Connor. Despite being slapped round the wrists by the assessor, the numbers suggest she’s capable of and she’s fancied to keep her unbeaten course record intact.
SAIKUNG (NAP) (best price 2-1) ran out an impressive winner at Nottingham even though a tardy beginning and she seems one to keep on facet based on that functionality.
Usually slow to her stride,” Charlie Hills’ filly was once again true to her word from the first paces in the Midland venue, however importantly she settled well and was noticed travelling nicely turning for home. Picking up readily as the powerful pace collapsed inside the final two furlongs, the girl of Acclamation swept by her field using a sharp twist of foot at a brief space of time and she ended up dropping going away with lots left in the tank. Clearly a filly right on the money at the moment, the catch rain throughout the morning is going to do her odds no harm, along with the excellent Sebastian Woods from the plate (who’ll hopefully drop her out and give her lots of time to find her stride), she ought to have all bases covered.
THE PECKHAMPOUNCER (best price 7-2) is a really likeable type and after his breakthrough victory at Tipperary the other day, he’s strongly fancied to continue his progression over a path that observed him run a big race on introduction.
Not really good enough for the likes of Sunday Sovereign and Arizona here back in the sexy maiden back early May, David Broad’s colt, however, did shape miles better than his 50-1 odds indicated and his following performances have proven that streak to be no fluke. Placed on his next few starts, the son of Cappella Sansevero sent up at the Limerick Junction place with high hopes of finally getting off the mark despite racing more than a sharp five-furlongs and trying soft floor for the first time, he came through the exam with flying colors. Very strong at the business end of that well-run event five days ago, this significant colt simply reverted the effortless underfoot c0onditions and with the forecast suggesting the Co Kildare monitor is in for a soaking in the build up to the race, he must be in his element greater than most.
CONCIERGE (best price 4-1) has a little to locate strictly about the book with Mercenary Rose in their assembly at Goodwood lately, but nicely drawn back to the all-weather, there’s more than a fair possibility that George Scott’s filly can flip the tables for her old rival.
In a race in which the high numbers were favoured, the girl of Society Rock got hung out to dry being forced to switch and race down the un-favoured centre part of the track and while Mercenary Rose was one of many to benefit ploughing a furrow up the nearside rail, she arrived home strongly away from where the main action happened. On that evidence, the blinkers she wore first-time certainly didn’t do any injury and was unlucky on her only previous visit to today’s monitor last September (trimmed heels and nearly dropped two out), the three-year-old filly can hold her own in somewhat shallower waters than her last two starts.
BUZZ KILLINGTON (best cost 33-1) is still a bit of an unknown quantity in several respects, but he’s at least shown enough skill in three starts to warrant a small interest in a big cost in a race up for grabs. ?? Unsurprisingly outpaced twice over five-furlongs for a horse with a stout pedigree, Noel Meade’s gelding shaped well from a poor draw Naas out time within a furlong additional, but even so, he still looked as though he would be seen to better effect over farther. Up to a distance here , then will bring about further improvement and if he handles the ground, he can quickly outrun his outrageous dawn chances.
BLAIRMAYNE’s (best price 14-1) past two runs are better than the bare results imply and he is worth a pop at a large price to bounce back to his best form over a track that’s served him well before. A creditable moment of those who raced up the stands’ side weapon in the Scurry Premier Handicap here two starts ago (3lb out of handicap), Natalie Lupini’s gelding got no rush whatsoever at Leopardstown when going well in supporting the pace on his most recent outing. Working on the basis he could have gone close to winning night and another unlucky horse in the race Guru Matt (won next time) is gearing up at 6-1, the son of Zebedee looks overpriced at his morning odds.
