Traditional CHARM (best price 10-3) has built up a wonderful affinity with the current C&D along with her seemingly within her part under testing conditions, everything looks set fair for another big effort from Dean Ivory’s in-form filly.
A match champion of an aggressive handicap when breaking her snowball in the thirteenth effort, the daughter of Rip Van Winkle didn’t need to wait too much time to improve her tally because she ran out an even more persuasive scorer on her return trip each time out. Sinking into the lead three out off the back of strong fractions, the three-year-old kept her foot on the pedal all the way to the point to score by a long-looking seven lengths and it came as no real surprise to find she’d posted the fastest pace figure on the seven-race card and including following Group race hero, Miss O Connor. Despite being slapped across the wrists by the assessor, the numbers suggest she is capable of more and she is fancied to keep her unbeaten course record intact.
SAIKUNG (NAP) (best cost 2-1) conducted an impressive winner in Nottingham even though a tardy beginning and she seems one to continue facet based on that functionality.
Normally slow to her stride,” Charlie Hills’ filly was again true to her word in the first paces in the Midland venue, but notably she settled nicely and was noted travelling nicely turning for home. Picking up easily as the powerful pace collapsed inside the last two furlongs, the daughter of Acclamation swept by her area using a sharp turn of foot at a brief space of time and she ended up dropping away with lots left in the tank. Clearly a filly right about the money at the moment, the forecast rain during the afternoon is going to do her opportunities no harm, and with the excellent Sebastian Woods in the plate (who will drop her out and give her lots of time to locate her stride), she should have all bases covered.
THE PECKHAMPOUNCER (best cost 7-2) is a really likeable form and following his breakthrough victory at Tipperary another day, he is strongly fancied to continue his progress over a course that witnessed him run a major race on debut.
Not quite good enough for the likes of Sunday Sovereign and also Arizona back at the sexy maiden back in early May, David Broad’s colt, nevertheless, did shape miles better than his 50-1 chances indicated and his following performances have shown that streak for no fluke. Placed on his next three starts, the boy of Cappella Sansevero sent up at the Limerick Junction venue with high hopes of finally getting off the mark despite racing within a sharp five-furlongs and attempting soft ground for the first time, he came through the examination with flying colours. Very strong at the business end of the well-run event five days before, this huge colt simply relished the easy underfoot c0onditions and together with the prediction suggesting the Co Kildare monitor is in for a soaking in the build up to the race, he must be in his element more than most.
CONCIERGE (best price 4-1) has a little to find strictly on the book with Mercenary Rose in their assembly at Goodwood lately, but well drawn back to the all-weather, there is more than a fair possibility that George Scott’s filly can flip the tables for her old rival.
In a race where the high amounts were leveled, the daughter of Society Rock got hung outside to dry being made to change down and race the un-favoured centre region of the track and while Mercenary Rose was one of many to benefit ploughing a furrow up the nearside railing, she arrived home strongly away from where the main action happened. On this evidence, the blinkers she wore first time certainly didn’t do any harm and having been unfortunate on her only previous visit to today’s track last September (trimmed heels and nearly fell out two ), the three-year-old filly can hold her own in slightly warmer waters compared to her last two starts.
BUZZ KILLINGTON (best cost 33-1) is still somewhat of an unknown quantity in many respects, but he has at least demonstrated sufficient ability in three starts to warrant a small interest in a big cost in a race very much up for grabs. ?? Unsurprisingly outpaced twice over five-furlongs for a horse having a stout pedigree, Noel Meade’s gelding shaped well from a lousy draw at Naas last time out over a furlong additional, but even so, he still looked like he’d be seen to greater effect over farther. As much as a distance here tonight, then will result in further improvement and when he handles the ground, he could quickly outrun his outrageous dawn chances.
BLAIRMAYNE’s (best price 14-1) last two runs have been much better than the bare outcomes imply and he is well worth a pop in a significant price to bounce back to his very best form over a track that has functioned well previously. A creditable second of people who hurried up the stands’ side weapon at the Scurry Premier Handicap here two starts ago (3lb from disability ), Natalie Lupini’s gelding got no run whatsoever at Leopardstown when moving well in behind the pace on his most recent outing. Working on the grounds that he might have gone close to winning that night along with another unlucky horse in the race Master Matt (won following time) is gearing up at 6-1, the son of Zebedee looks overpriced at his morning chances.
