Timeless CHARM (best price 10-3) has built up a nice affinity with the current C&D and with her seemingly within her part under testing requirements, everything looks set fair for another significant effort from Dean Ivory’s in-form filly.
A match winner of an aggressive handicap when busting her duck at the thirteenth effort, the girl of Rip Van Winkle didn’t need to wait too long to add to her tally as she ran an even more persuasive scorer in her return visit last time out. Jumping into the lead three off the back of powerful fractions, the three-year-old retained her foot on the pedal all the way to the line to score with a long-looking seven lengths and it came as no real surprise to find she had posted the fastest pace figure on the seven-race card and including following Group race hero, Miss O Connor. Regardless of being slapped round the wrists from the assessor, the numbers suggest she is capable of and she’s fancied to keep her unbeaten track record intact.
SAIKUNG (NAP) (best cost 2-1) ran out an impressive winner at Nottingham despite a tardy beginning and she seems one to continue negative based on that performance.
Normally slow into her stride, Charlie Hills’ filly was again true to her word in the early paces at the Midland place, but importantly she settled nicely and was noticed travelling well turning at home. Picking up easily as the strong pace collapsed inside the final two furlongs, the daughter of Acclamation swept by her field with a sharp turn of foot at a brief space of time and she ended up winning going away with plenty left in the tank. Definitely a filly right about the money right now, the forecast rain throughout the morning is going to perform her odds no harm, along with the outstanding Sebastian Woods from the plate (who’ll hopefully drop out her and give her plenty of time to find her stride), she ought to have all bases covered.
THE PECKHAMPOUNCER (best cost 7-2) is a very likeable kind and following his breakthrough success at Tipperary another day, he’s strongly fancied to continue his progress over a track that witnessed him run a big race on debut.
Not quite good enough for the likes of Sunday Sovereign and also Arizona back at the sexy maiden back early May, David Broad’s colt, nevertheless, did contour miles greater than his 50-1 chances indicated and his subsequent performances have proven that run for no fluke. Determined by his next three starts, the son of Cappella Sansevero sent up at the Limerick Junction place with high hopes of finally getting off the mark despite racing within a sharp five-furlongs and trying soft ground for the first time, he came through the exam with flying colours. Very strong at the company end of that well-run event five days before, this significant colt simply relished the easy underfoot c0onditions and together with the forecast suggesting that the Co Kildare monitor is in for a soaking at the build up to the race, he must be in his part greater than most.
CONCIERGE (best price 4-1) has a bit to locate strictly on the book with Mercenary Rose in their meeting at Goodwood lately, but well drawn back to the all-weather, there’s more than a fair possibility that George Scott’s filly can flip the tables on her previous rival.
In a race where the high numbers were leveled, the girl of Society Rock got hung out to dry being forced to change down and race the un-favoured middle region of the trail and while Mercenary Rose was among several to benefit ploughing a furrow up the nearside rail, she came home strongly away from where the main action happened. On this evidence, the blinkers she wore first-time certainly did not do any harm and having been unfortunate on her only previous visit to the monitor last September (trimmed heels and nearly fell two out), the three-year-old filly could hold her own at slightly shallower waters than her last two starts.
BUZZ KILLINGTON (best cost 33-1) remains a bit of an unknown amount in several respects, but he’s at least shown enough skill in three begins to justify a small interest at a big price in a race up for grabs. ?? Unsurprisingly outpaced twice over five-furlongs for a horse using a stout pedigree, Noel Meade’s gelding shaped nicely from a terrible draw Naas out time over a furlong extra, but even sohe looked like he would be seen to greater effect over farther. Up to a mile here tonight, then will result in further progress and if he manages the floor, he could quickly outrun his outrageous dawn odds.
BLAIRMAYNE’s (best price 14-1) last two runs have been much better than the bare results imply and he’s worth a pop at a big cost to rebound back to his best form above a track that’s functioned well previously. A creditable moment of individuals who hurried up the stands’ side weapon in the Scurry Premier Handicap here two starts ago (3lb from handicap), Natalie Lupini’s gelding have no rush at all at Leopardstown when going well in behind the rate on his latest outing. Working on the grounds he could have gone into winning that night along with the other unfortunate horse in the race Master Matt (won next time) is gearing up at 6-1, the son of Zebedee seems buttery at his dawn chances.
