Because the Philadelphia Eagles Appear to continue soaring against the Atlanta Falcons, it’s a big-time battle of the birds to the Week Two Sunday Nighter.
Dan Quinn’s Atlanta side did not have the start they hoped for last week against Minnesota. Although 2019 was supposed to become a bounceback season for the Falcons’ — it really didn’t start favorably. Atlanta was outplayed and Dan Quinn’s training seat remains thicker than ever. It won’t be easy against a gifted Eagles group, although in a spot on primetime, the Falcons need to respond with a much better attempt.
Philadelphia enters Week two ready to climb following an 2018 campaign. Carson Wentz finally looks healthy again and again last week the crime was immobilized through the lowly Redskins. Philly seems poised and prepared to make another run while this week should be harder since they take to the road.
Stress is already mounting and with all the red-hot Eagles rolling into town, it should make for an intriguing night at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Continue reading below the posted chances for some detailed analysis, match preview, and a pick to finish off on a top note.
Philadelphia Eagles -1 (-110)
@ Atlanta Falcons +1 (-110)
Over 52.5 (-110)
Underneath 52.5 (-110)
Given how I talked about these teams at the section of this preview, you’d believe the Eagles would be enormous favorites within this one. But a slim one-point on the disperse separates both of these teams indicating what a massive second this is to the Falcons in their season. They remain a talented group, but finally one that can’t manage to go 0-2 in this age. Especially not in the competitive NFC South division.
However, the Eagles won’t feel sorry for them, despite being endorsed intensely by the public within this competition. A week they seemed prolific on offense in the second half, which Wentz-to-DeSean Jackson deep chunk link appeared to be in fine shape. The Falcons really struggle that is strange considering that was the forte of Dan Quinn. Atlanta does not boast any sort of dash and it is apparent that there is nobody in the Falcons’ secondary that should scare Wentz.
Expect Wentz to bully at the Falcons through the atmosphere throwing Trufant isn’t. He has so many weapons that were gifted at his disposal, and his arm and freedom back to full power — the Eagles move the chains and then can name their play. On the ground, the Falcons still have a solid run defense and thus don’t be surprised to see rookie runner Miles Sanders have a big outing. Atlanta can’t stop the Eagles.
Shifting over to the crime of Atlanta, it was sad to watch such a quarterback like Matt Ryan receive almost no protection a week against the Vikings. Every time that he stepped back to watch downfield, there were linemen barreling down on him. The Falcons’ offensive line is in poor shape at the moment, and it looks like a few pieces have taken back a step. Unfortunately for Atlanta, the Eagles probably possess the most ferocious pass rush football in all.
1 silver lining for the Falcons is the Eagles’ remains a weak spot for a stop unit. They allow Washington throw on them but it remains to be seen when the Falcons can adequately protect Ryan to put him up for looks that are downfield. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley could be weapons in this match, but maybe not if the Falcons can’t pass due to stress.
Ultimately they’ll just be overmatched with a whole effort from the Eagles, although expect Atlanta to emerge out hungry and desperate. The Falcons can’t block, rush, or shield at any kind of consistency, and although it’s seeming like that could be one of the most’people’ plays this week — aspect with the ability of the Eagles to go to 2-0 on Sunday evening.
