Two Liverpool fans have been assaulted in Naples in front of the Reds’ Champions League group-stage fixture from Napoli, based on Merseyside Police.
Liverpool will begin their Champions League defence on Tuesday night but there were problems with fan violence prior to the match.
Two men have been shown that by merseyside Police.
The police statement :”At around 6pm local time (5pm GMT), it was reported that a number of men on scooters approached the fans at a pub in the city before assaulting them.
“Two men from the UK, dated 26 and 46, sustained superficial cuts and grazes to the mind and were treated at the spectacle before continued to attend the match.
“Local authorities know and Merseyside Police are operating together with police colleagues in Naples to assist in the policing of their Champions League fixture.”
