Tyson Fury says he’s willing to set a blockbuster struggle with Anthony Joshua to a side, when the former heavyweight winner is not able to recover his straps at a rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr..
Pave the way for his own world heavyweight rematch using Deontay Wilder and fury is expecting to make light work of Otto Wallin on Saturday, but is already thinking beyond that to a possible unification bout.
Fury is ready to confront either fighter, although Joshua is confident of getting revenge when the pair meet in Saudi Arabia on December 7, live on Sky Sports Box Office after enduring his first professional defeat at the hands of Ruiz Jr in June.
“When he (Anthony Joshua) goes in there and has hauled back out by Ruiz, then fair play to Ruiz. Who cares? You know, I’ll just fight Ruiz, does not matter. One hundred percent.
“I’m not concerned because whatever happens in life happens and we can’t change it anyway. So, with each negative, there is a positive.”
Talking about this weekend’s competition Wallin, Fury included:”It’s another challenge, distinct competition, different style and fashions do create struggles.
“This man’s 6’6”, left-handed southpaw. It’s probably going to be a different challenge. Every battle differs, not 1 struggle, all struggles, is precisely the exact same.
“So, we approach every struggle (with a) distinct game plan, but when we are in there for the very first moment or so, I will know precisely what to do with Otto Wallin.”
Wallin is really hoping to spring a surprise outcome and is looking to Ruiz for inspiration.
“Just examine the other struggles such as Andy Ruiz-Joshua. Mike Tyson, he was not supposed to get beat. He got beat from Buster Douglas.
“We had a Swedish guy, Ingemar Johansson, sixty years back he came over to New York and beat Floyd Patterson. He had been a massive underdog and he is beaten by him. It may occur at any moment. So tune in and do not blink.”
Saturday morning at 2am, live on Sky Sports Action – Devin Haney vs Zaur Abdullaev, Heather Hardy vs Amanda Serrano, Michael Hunter vs Sergey Kuzmin.
