The Tom Banton of somerset has won the August PCA Player of the Month award after an outstanding month that saw him score his T20 century.
Banton was the obvious winner with 53 percent of the people vote, ahead of team-mate Tom Abell (22 percent ) Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth (13 percent ) and Derbyshire’s Wayne Madsen (12 per cent).
The shortlist had previously been chosen by the Most Valuable Player Rankings of the PCA, with the nominees scoring greater MVP points than anybody else in August.
Fans who voted via the PCA and Sky Sports sites had the final say, with Banton becoming the fifth distinct participant to win the award this season, after Liam Dawson at April,” Simon Harmer in May,” Hassan Azad at June and Ravi Ashwin at July.
“It is definitely a very particular moment. It’s always nice to see my name join a listing of these gifted players,” said Banton, 20.
While Craig Overton along with Somerset duo Lewis Gregory are flying high in the total MVP banton was nominated for the award alongside Abell.
“It’s fantastic having such amazing players . They’ve helped me much as I’ve come into the team which is nice for me being a child and now being in my very first year.”
To get Banton, the month found him score 428 runs at an average of 38.9 across both formats with his emphasize undoubtedly his maiden T20 hundred from Kent at Taunton.
“I have never sensed enthusiasm like it – it was somewhat mad to be honest. I fought to sleep for the upcoming few nights that I presume was still due to the excitement.”

“If I scored a hundred from the Championship then I would be the youngest player to receive one in every one of the significant competitions [overtaking Jason Roy], therefore personally I would like to do that. But the primary thing is just to try and keep winning matches.”
Beyond that, the concerns regarding an England call-up will last to get requested if Banton maintains on generating this August, as he has done. The child is keen to concentrate on the here and now.
“Clearly the England white ball team are so strong and have just come off the back of winning the World Cup. You never understand, should you continue doing then although it is definitely going to be quite tough to break in that group. I’ll find that telephone call.
“This season I have done much better in white-ball cricket but I’m always hoping to improve in the format also. The principal objective is definitely to play Test cricket for England but I’m just trying to remain realistic in the moment so white-ball cricket will hopefully come .”
