The Atlanta Braves are in Philadelphia to Get a series from the Phillies.
As Mike Soroka did not possess a standout performance for the Braves yesterday day their winning streak came to an end at nine games. Max Scherzer took charge with controlling his pitches, while Soroka was have trouble. The Nationals pounced to get a 9-4 triumph on the Braves and managed to take advantage.
The final games of the routine are a lot more significant for the Nationals, as they try and stay in the Wild Card Game. If that game were now the Nationals would be hosting the Chicago Cubs. More important is the Phillies perform down the stretch.
Philadelphia are in need of a few wins in September. Two games may seem like nothing, but they are competing against the Brewers, Diamondbacks, and Cubs. The Mets at four matches are still in the conversation that is wildcard . They have a good deal of competition to handle.
A two-game shortage is larger than it seems. In any event, having to perform with lights out down the stretch simply to achieve the Wild Card Game isn’t what the front office had in mind with this team. They were going to signal Bryce Harper also it went to put them.
As the Phillies are two touchdowns and two factors behind the Braves in the NL East. The closest group to the Braves in the branch are the Nationals at nine games back. Thus, Atlanta are in a fantastic place and would be clinch.
How I view it, they are the group that are destined to the postseason, however, we’ll see how things perform. Mike Foltynewicz has been heating up of late. His re-emergence would help tremendously. Folty gets the nod against Aaron Nola tonight. Head under for our free Braves vs. Phillies pick.

Mike Foltynewicz had a coming out celebration in Atlanta last year. He had a career-high ERA of 2.95 and there were lofty expectations for him to follow this up with another successful campaign in 2019. For the large part, this year hasn’t gone as planned for Foltynewicz. That is an understatement, as he carries a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP to Philadelphia on Monday night.
Is he beginning to figure things out in the ideal time for the Braves? He retains an ERA of 1.62 and also 1.14 WHIP in his previous three outings. August 8th was the previous day that he allowed more than just 3 runs. The game that got him going was an impressive showing from the Dodgers, as Foltynewicz allowed just 4.2 innings of work. A strong showing against a team like the Dodgers might be precisely what he desired.
This is for true, and if Foltynewicz is not pitching like a flash in the pan lately, then the Braves would find a lift for their pitching team in October. Along with Soroka and Teheran, the Braves are in shape than they were. He’s been strong against the Phillies in his profession, as they are hitting .230 at 252 at-bats.
Nola has been fine. He’s submitted a 4.67 ERA in his past three starts. The Braves have connected for 23 runs and 9 home runs against Nola in 257 at-bats. In these 252 at-bats that the Phillies have experienced Foltynewicz, they’ve recorded 7 home runs and 15 runs.
The Phillies will be the more desperate team, but that does not always equate into a triumph. Obtaining here seems like a terrific deal. Folty is believing it and I feel the Braves are being undervalued at this price Monday.
