Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has recently signed a new contract to remain with the club.
De Gea, 28, has made 367 United appearances since Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to the club against Atletico Madrid in an #18.9m bargain in June 2011.
“My future is fixed, all I need is to help this team achieve what I believe we could and win prizes again, together,” said the Spaniard.
“It’s been a privilege to spend eight years in this terrific club.”
De Gea, capped 40 times by Spain, helped United win the FA Cup, the Premier League title in 2012-13 and both the League Cup and the Europa League in 2016-17.
The Spaniard, who has consistently been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid in recent seasons, would have been able to open talks with clubs outside England over a transfer in January and was in the last year of his contract.
He came close to joining Real in a 29m movement since the necessary paperwork wasn’t submitted in time on the day of the transfer 36, but the deal collapsed.
De Gea and also united were in negotiations for over two years within the new handle the club making an improved deal in July.
“The opportunity to continue my career at Manchester United is a real honour,” explained De Gea, that has the option to extend the contract for a further season.
“As I came here, I might not have imagined I would play over 350 games for this club.
“I feel I have a lot more to reach at the golf club and I truly believe that Manchester United can construct on the club’s heritage of success and benefit our fans for their service.
“I am committed to continue supporting the fans for each of the care that they’ve shown me during the good days and the bad.”
De Gea has performed with the club in 2019-20 in all five of United’s Premier League games, seven points.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:”I am thrilled that David has dedicated his long-term future to the team.
“Over the last few decades, David has demonstrated itself to be the very finest on earth and a very important portion of our plans as we look to take Manchester United back to wherever it goes.”
The Norwegian added that De Gea”reflects everything you want at a goalkeeper”.
