Charlie Hills is looking forward to seeing Stewards’ Cup hero Khaadem Yield to the Degree in the Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday.
The Dark Angel colt was a disappointing on his only previous appearance in Group One firm when seventh in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot in June – ending 10 lengths behind Martyn Meade’s Sprint Cup favourite Advertise.
However, a runner-up conclusion behind German raider Waldpfad at the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury was a step in the right direction and he turned what is among this season’s sprint handicaps into a procession in Goodwood on his latest look.
Hills told Sky Sports Racing:”They had a bit of rain there last week, but it should not be a issue. So the floor may be on the other side, there is maybe forecast later in the week, but that should be handled by him.
“It was pretty slow at Newbury if he won there in the spring, so I am fairly relaxed really.
“We were very far back at halfway (in the Stewards’ Cup). They came back to him a little bit, but he showed a fantastic turn of foot and also left a lot of ground up.
“We’ve been happy with him since. It is a significant step up from a disability to a Group One, however, I think it’s the only method we could go ”
